Special Character Week 4 Term 3 2015

Catholic Special Character Focus
This is our final week of preparations for receiving the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist on Sunday 16th August at the 9.30am Mass. The children are very excited. Today, Thursday 13th August, the children received Reconciliation with Father Wayne after Mass in preparation before receiving the Eucharist. We will also be having a practice tomorrow, Friday 14th August at 1.30pm in the Church. Parents are also welcome to join us at the practice. Please refer to the pink notice I sent home with details about Sunday. Please remember that the children sit together as a group at the front of the Church. Father Wayne would love to see many of our school families at this wonderful celebration as well to support these children.
Please leave your plate for morning tea in the hall before the Mass.  If other families wish to join us for morning tea please bring along a plate so there will be plenty of food for your family and the other parishioners who may wish to join us. Thank You. Please come and see me if you have any questions or send me an email.
To make this day a day to remember we need help with setting up the hall tomorrow, Friday 14th after school. This does not take very long. We also need help with serving the morning tea on Sunday. I have sent a note home and have had some offers of help but still need some help with the morning tea on Sunday.

Week 9 (I know it's a long way off) is Caritas Social Justice Week. The focus this year is 'Family Ups and Downs'. We will also be looking at how our 'Catholic Social Teaching Principles' help us become the people Jesus wants us to be. Each week I will share with you one of these principles and how it will help us. The first one is 'Human Dignity'. The principle of Human Dignity, the Cornerstone of Catholic Social Teaching, recognises that all people are made in the image and likeness of God and therefore deserve to be treated with respect. This will help us focus on the joys and struggles of families and what each and everyone of us can do to support or receive support from those around us.
